The Director of Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) works closely with the head of school the MPA administrative team faculty staff students and families to ensure that DEIB practices are central to every facet of the schools academics and operations. As both a strategist and an executor the director will establish metrics and utilize data to measure success and drive tangible progress toward greater inclusion across MPAs programs initiatives policies and practices.
A thought-leader and trailblazer the director will be dually tasked with driving the ideation and inspiration behind MPAs Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging initiatives while also being hands-on and resourceful in the implementation of the work.
- Team Leadership
- Collaborate and be a thought partner alongside the other members of the administrative team to advance the mission vision and values of Mounds Park Academy.
- Assist support and advise the administrative team in evaluating advancing implementing and optimizing programs policies and practices.
- Collaborate with the academic administrative team and provide resources and professional development to further strengthen the presence of DEIB in the MPA curriculum and course offerings PreK-12.
- Collaborate with the director of human resources chief financial and operations officer and director of enrollment and communications to ensure compliance with federal and state laws policies and procedures.
- Constituent Support:
- Be accessible visible and a productive resource to students faculty staff and families regarding DEIB matters.
- Provide direct and indirect support to students and families on identity development.
- Support and advise division directors on disciplinary matters through a restorative practice approach.
- Monitoring progress and outcomes for at-risk students by using qualitative and quantitative data to assess the impact of interventions and adjust supports to improve student performance engagement and wellbeing.
- Serve as a conduit for DEIB concerns to the school leadership team and provide guidance on pathways forward to address expressed concerns.
- Program Planning and Implementation:
- With input from various constituents to develop communicate and implement a thoughtfully aligned schedule of DEIB programs that are accessible and pedagogically appropriate to the three divisions and community at large.
- Manage budget for events department needs and professional development opportunities.
- Provide guidance support to divisions departments teachers and co-curricular programming for both students faculty staff and families.
- Strategic Planning:
- Hold an instrumental role in ensuring the strategic plan incorporates equity inclusion and belonging in all areas.
- Co-chair the Board of Trustees Equity and Belonging Committee to maintain appropriate focus of strategic vision for the school.
- Measure and analyze data about students faculty staff families and alumni to identify areas of progress opportunities for growth and future action steps.
- Community Engagement:
- Work with all constituents to foster continued clarity growth and progress specific to cultural competency practices within and outside of classroom.
- Design and lead professional development for faculty and staff to strengthen DEIB practices within the nine core competencies defined for MPAs students as future ready learners.
- Model a growth mindset through participation in professional development to remain current in best practices and knowledge and share these learnings with others within the community.
- Attend meetings with regular cadence across the various constituents to provide support and engagement as appropriate (e.g. faculty and staff division grade-level CARE team Parents Association and alumni meetings).
- Recruitment and Retention:
- Actively provide support and guidance to admissions and hiring committee processes and when appropriate take an active role in the recruitment process.

Preferred Education Experience and Skills:
- 5 year of experience in the field
- Bachelors degree required.
- Masters degree or higher preferred.
- Experience in leading professional development specific to anti-bias and cultural competency work in education.
- Experience as a classroom teacher curriculum development and/or have led work with diverse age levels and abilities.
- Evidence of a commitment to a student-centered approach.
- Ability to model and maintain positive motivation and momentum even in challenging circumstances.
- Proven success in establishing and implementing diversity equity inclusion and belonging programs.
- Experience in strategic planning event coordination and execution.
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Commitment to community building and furthering the mission and vision of Mounds Park Academy.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit talk and/or hear and/or use their hands to type file and write. The employee is frequently required to stand during social/ community events and to walk to various meetings throughout the day. Some other physical activities may include lifting bending walking climbing stairs reaching and pulling. The environment is busy fast paced goal and deadline driven.
