Job Summary

Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)Position Type: Permanent .8 FTELocation: District WideReports to: Student ServicesSalary: $30.00 per hourPosition Summary:The Franklin Public Schools is seeking a .8 Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for the District. Must be very knowledgeable about the special education process and school-based therapy. Successful candidate will work collaboratively with the school-based team to provide direct individual and group therapy and consultation. Qualifications::
  • Current and valid license with Board of Allied Professionals
  • Public school experience preferred
  • Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).Responsibilities:
  • Provide occupational therapy services to students by direct or consultation to address range of motion sensory strategies and techniques fine and gross motor activities as related to IEP goals under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR).
  • Document data into the Individual Education Plan (IEP) through the use of district information technology systems.
  • Maintain progress monitoring systems.
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers and teams by suggesting ideas for classroom interventions.
  • Train paraprofessionals as needed.
  • Prepare and plan for groups or individual sessions.
  • Collaborate with OTRs on a regular basis.
  • Attend OT/PT professional learning meetings.
  • Participate in continuing education courses or ongoing district professional development.
  • Perform other job-related duties as must have:
  • Experience with a wide range of disabilities
  • Successful experience in public school settings
  • Knowledge of an array of interventions and supports
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Excellent oral and written language skills
