Description
Are you an EEC certified preschool teacher who loves working with children and supporting their growth and development If so come join the Early Childhood Education team at the Greendale Family Branch in the Wee Wuns Preschool Program.
Essential Functions:
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson/activity plans.
- Implement curriculum developed by the Wee Wuns Coordinator in partnership with the Lead Teacher.
- Assist with classroom management ensuring a safe positive and inclusive environment.
- Supervise children in both indoor and outdoor settings including swimming and playground activities.
- Help with child observations documentation and assessments as needed.
- Communicate positively and professionally with parents and families.
- Assist with maintaining attendance health and safety records.
- Participate in staff meetings trainings and YMCA family/community events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.
- Weekly Swimming
Qualifications:
- Must hold EEC Preschool Teacher certification and meet DEEC requirements.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma required; enrollment in an Early Childhood Education program or Associates degree preferred.
- Current certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to support age-appropriate programming and curriculum.
- Strong interpersonal skills with children families and colleagues.
- Must be physically able to participate in active play outdoor supervision and evacuation drills as well as lift children when necessary.
- Must provide evidence of physical examination and health clearance every two years proof of negative Mantoux test and documentation of immunity to measles mumps and rubella.
- Within 30 days of hire: completion of Child Abuse Prevention Working with Program Volunteers CPR First Aid AED and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Job Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 2:30pm
Pay: ($18-$20/hr based on experience and education) with access to facilities for all YMCA employees Employee Assistance Program and Sick Leave
