Parts Manager Responsibilities:

Inventory & Parts Management:

  • Oversee the purchasing stocking distribution and tracking of parts fluids filters and shop supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels using ERP and inventory management systems (e.g. Tenna Workday).
  • Manage core returns warranties and backorders with vendors.
  • Monitor critical parts usage trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly.


Vendor & Cost Control:

  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing reliable delivery and high-quality parts.
  • Solicit quotes negotiate pricing and process purchase orders.
  • Approve invoices verify deliveries and ensure accurate billing.


Team & Shop Support:

  • Supervise parts counter staff and support technicians in identifying correct parts for service and repairs.
  • Coordinate with fleet managers mechanics and operations teams to anticipate needs.
  • Ensure organization and cleanliness of parts storage areas.


Technology & Reporting:

  • Use software platforms for ordering inventory tracking cost analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with audits cycle counts and compliance with safety/environmental standards.
  • Generate and review usage and cost reports regularly.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 35 years of experience in a parts department or equipment maintenance environment preferably in construction transportation or heavy equipment.
  • Prior experience managing inventory vendors and purchasing processes.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of diesel equipment vehicles and related components.
  • Strong organizational problem-solving and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ERP software (Tenna Workday etc.) preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or college coursework preferred.
