We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Customs Classification Leader to oversee and manage the accurate classification of goods in accordance with global customs regulations. This role is critical in ensuring compliance minimizing duty exposure and supporting efficient cross-border trade operations.

Whatyoulldo:
- Lead the global customs classification process for all imported and exported goods.
- Interpret and apply Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs).
- Collaborate with engineering procurement and legal teams to gather product data and ensure accurate classification.
- Maintain and update classification databases and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes in global trade regulations and proactively adjust classification strategies.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on customs classification procedures and best practices.
- Support audits and inquiries from customs authorities and internal compliance teams.
- Partner with compliance team customs brokers and third-party consultants to resolve complex classification issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline classification workflows and enhance compliance.
- Partner with IT and product management to enhance the trade compliance application through ongoing improvement initiatives.
What you need to have:
- Bachelors degree in International Business Supply Chain Logistics or a related field and 5 years of experience in customs classification trade compliance or a similar role. Or 10 years of experience in customs classification trade compliance or a similar role
- Experience with classification rulings and binding tariff information (BTI) processes.
- Strong knowledge of HTS and ECCN.
- Excellent research and analytical skills to interpret technical product specifications and regulatory texts.
- Demonstrated leadership experience including mentoring or managing classification teams or projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex classification decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
- Proficiency in data management tools (e.g. SQL Alteryx Power Query) with a strong focus on process improvement automation and a problem-solving mindset.
- Fluent English
Desired Characteristics
- Experience with global customs regulations (U.S. EU APAC etc.).
- Experience with trade compliance software (e.g. Oracle GTM SAP GTS Amber Road Descartes)
- Experience directly or indirectly leading a global team
- Track record of executing multi-business global strategic initiatives
- Customs Broker License or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification is preferred.
