The Team

The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre (Maples) provides specialized community programs as well as live-in treatment services (serving the entire province). Through its programs and services the Maples supports families caregivers and communities in caring for and treating young people with severe and enduring mental health and behavioural difficulties. The Maples also provides services for young people Unfit to Stand Trial or found Not Criminally Responsible Due to a Mental Disorder. Maples programs include comprehensive care plan services care plan consultant services community based services respite services and live-in services wherein a young person due to the severity of their challenges.

The Role
The Child Care Counsellor as part of the multi-disciplinary team is responsible for providing assessment care planning treatment discharge and community services for young people with severe and enduring mental health and behavioural challenges who are admitted or enrolled at the Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre (The Maples) in accordance with established principles and guidelines of practice; to perform various administrative duties which support program objectives; and to perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in Child and Youth Care Social Work or other *human services field; AND 6 months of **related experience; OR
Diploma in Child and Youth Care Social Work or other *human services field AND 2 years of **related experience; OR
An equivalent combination of education and **related experience may be considered.

*Human Services fields include: Psychology sociology criminology anthropology applied behavioural analysis early childhood education Indigenous studies education and psychiatric nursing.

**Related experience includes the following:

Experience with gathering assessing and writing reports.
Experience with providing care to young people individually and in group settings.
Experience working with young people or in a related setting.
Experience in working in mental health.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

A Bachelors degree in Child and Youth Care Social Work or other *human services fields (see above).
Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
Applicants who have experience using the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer systems.

About this Position:
There are multiple full-time and part-time permanent positions available.
There are multiple full-time and part-time temporary positions available until November 1 2026 with the possibility of extension and/or the position becoming permanent.
This position has full time on-site requirements.
Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Successful applicants must be flexible and available to work any shift pattern including day evening overnight weekends and/or weekdays based on operational requirements. Auxiliary employees must be available for at least 3 shifts per week within the employees availability.
