Job Summary
A healthcare organization in New York City is seeking an experienced Healthcare Payroll Specialist to support payroll and timekeeping operations within a hospital or clinical environment. This role requires hands-on experience with payroll processing timekeeping systems garnishments tax handling and compliance in a highly regulated setting. The specialist will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll for healthcare employees while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Process payroll for both hourly and salaried healthcare employees
Manage timekeeping data including retroactive pay calculations and time adjustments
Enter track and process wage garnishments payroll taxes and deductions
Review payroll transfer reports and validate benefit deductions
Perform payroll audits to ensure accuracy compliance and data integrity
Maintain payroll records and documentation within payroll and HR systems
Assist leadership with payroll accounting and reporting projects as needed
Work across multiple systems simultaneously while safeguarding sensitive information
Required Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years of payroll and timekeeping experience preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting
Strong experience with payroll garnishments tax processing and year-end payroll activities
Proven analytical skills including retro pay and time correction calculations
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook
High School Diploma or GED required
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree preferred
Experience with payroll systems such as QuickBooks Pay Choice or Payroll Associates
Prior experience supporting payroll operations in a hospital or healthcare environment
