Interns spend approximately12weeksworking alongsideleading experts in government and academia from all over the world.Brookings also offers students the opportunity to intern in departments such as communications human resources and central operations management.The mission of the Internship Program is to provide students witha pre-professional learning experience that offers meaningful practical work experience related to their field of studyor career interest.Students engage in career exploration and development as well as learn new skills.
Interns will have the opportunity to attend meetings think tank events professional development workshops and public Brookings addition interns will have the opportunity to network with other interns throughout the Institution.
This internship is an opportunity for undergraduate students in their junior or senior year and graduate students pursuing a masters degree with an interest intechnology implementation and developmentto apply principles and theory learned in the classroom in a professional environment.PhD students are not eligible for internships; please visitourCareers pagefor current open positions.This internship pays an hourly rate of $18.40 and applicants must be willing to commit to a minimum number of hours per week (no less than 40hours per week during regular business hours) with some flexibility around an academic course schedule.Please note: this internship is operations-focused not research-focused.

The Brookings Technology (BTech) internship offers aspiring professionals the chance to work across diverse functions including enterprise software development and implementation data center engineering artificial intelligence enablement cybersecurity and end-user productivity solutions helping to strengthen the technology foundation that supports Brookings mission. This internship is best suited for undergraduate or graduate students who want to deepen their experience within a variety of technology disciplines including technology deployment management project management and user experience. BTech pairs interns with mentors and projects that align with their skills and learning goals. Because BTech supports manyfacetsof technology operationsfrom software implementation to cybersecurity to hardware engineeringinterns may work in different focus areas depending on their background and have contributed to projects involving cybersecurity enterprise software implementation technology communications and generative AI.

This internship is ideal for undergraduate students in their junior or senior year and graduate students pursuing a masters degree with a strong interest in technology implementation and development. Candidates should have a background in one of the following computer science information systems/data management business analytics project/product management or a related field with a desire to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. Skills in collaboration problem-solving and communication are highly valued.
