The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Quality Analyst and Tester (SW Test Team)-Journeyman to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. The salary range of this position is $100000.00 - $135000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:

The Analysis Debrief and Test (ADT) Branch supports the development integration and testing of the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB) product suite. The software products comprising the JTB support modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and their international partners. All products are government owned developed and managed.

A typical day as a Software Quality Analyst and Tester (SW Test Team)-Journeyman may include:

  • Tests software for an advanced synthetic training environment
  • Integrates software into flight simulators to support pilot training and Operational Testing (OT) against potential threats
  • Supports software unit-level and component-level testing of JTB products ensuring requirements/specifications are met prior to delivery for integration
  • Creates test plans test cases and test procedures to validate new requirements
  • Plans and executes regression tests
  • Tests a variety of Jira issues from new feature implementation to bug fixes to database queries
  • Documents test results and discovers issues in Jira
  • Collaborates with JTB product owners software developers and subject matter experts
  • Communicates across a large team to verify correct procedures and software issue diagnosis
  • Runs extensive regression tests when software reaches Release Candidate (RC) phase

Must-haves:

  • BS/BA Degree in a relevant technical discipline OR HS Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • 3 years of experience in developing/performing tests of systems to identify software/hardware deficiencies and verify compliance with system requirements
  • Experience with scripting databases and programming languages (C Python 3 and/or HTML)
  • Experience in documenting software defects and requirement compliance
  • Experience reporting defects to developers
  • Experience creating/maintaining databases of known defects (Jira and GitLab)
  • The ability to participate in software design reviews to provide input on functional requirements acceptance criteria operational characteristics product designs and schedules
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance-AMEWAS willing to obtain and process full clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting modeling and simulation efforts
  • Experience supporting automated testing
  • Prior DoD experience

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office sitting in a cubicle or at a desk looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting walking standing etc.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. On rare occasions overnight travel may be required.

The employee is required to stand walk and/or move throughout the workday often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs.
