Those in payroll at PwC will assist in the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees. Working in this area you will handle payroll administration including calculating wages deductions and taxes as well as confirming compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your responsibilities include collaborating with HR teams to maintain employee records address payroll-related inquiries and assist in payroll accuracy. You will play a crucial role in making sure employees are paid correctly and on time contributing to the overall financial well-being of the organisation and supporting employee satisfaction.

Job Purpose

The Junior Payroll Consultant will support the SATIC payroll consultant with the preparation and processing of monthly payrolls on Sage 300 People. The role involves data capturing validations basic reconciliations andassistingwith employee queries while gaining experience in full-function payroll.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture payroll inputs such as new hires terminations banking details personal information unpaid leave overtime and allowances.

  • Assistwith validating payroll data and ensuring all inputs areaccurateand approved.

  • Support the SATIC payroll consultant during monthend and yearend processing.

  • Receive review andvalidatepayrollrelated documents signed viaDocuSign.

  • Saveand file documents correctly according to internal filing standards.

  • Ensure allrelevantdocuments are processed on Sage 300 People timeously (e.g. benefit changes salary amendments personal detail updates).

  • Capture benefit deductions such as medical aid provident fund retirement fund and other thirdparty items.

  • Send required documentation and employee information to Alexander Forbes in line with onboarding changesandterminations.

  • Verify that leave balances areaccurateandassistemployees with leaverelated queries.

  • Support leave reconciliation checks and escalate discrepancies where.

System & Data Administration (Sage 300 People)

  • Maintain and update employee profiles on Sage 300 People.

  • Assistwith simple configuration tasks and basic system checks under supervision.

  • Ensure data integrity and support routine system audits.

Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Ensure all payroll documentation isauthorised complete and accurately filed.

  • Assistwith basic statutory processes such as UIF declarations and internal payroll reports.

  • Maintainorganisedand compliant payroll records for audit purposes.

Employee & Stakeholder Support

  • Respond to basic payroll leave and benefit-related queries professionally.

  • Escalate complex queries to senior payroll staff with the necessarycontext.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 / Matric (essential).

  • Basic understanding of payroll principles.

  • Basic MS Excel skills (e.g. sorting filtering basicformulas).
