Custodian

Position Overview:

Windham Academy is seeking a dependable detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a safe clean and welcoming environment for our students staff and visitors. The Custodian plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the school by ensuring that classrooms common areas and facilities are well maintained and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness of classrooms hallways restrooms offices cafeteria and common areas

• Sweep mop vacuum and sanitize floors and surfaces regularly

• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properly

• Clean and sanitize restrooms replenish supplies and monitor cleanliness throughout the day

• Set up and break down spaces for school events meetings and activities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and reporting repair needs

• Assist with seasonal duties such as snow removal salting walkways and general grounds upkeep

• Ensure compliance with health safety and sanitation standards

• Secure the building by locking doors and windows as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Prior custodial or facilities experience preferred especially in a school setting

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending standing and walking for extended periods

• Reliable punctual and committed to maintaining a safe school environment
