The Lead/Mentor Teacher serves as the classroom lead in a Head Start or Early Head Start program and provides mentorship to participants in the Apprenticeship Program. This role models effective teaching practices supports professional growth and contributes to a collaborative learning environment.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Model Effective Practice: Demonstrate exemplary teaching practices for Apprenticeship Program participants in the classroom.
- Provide Reflective Support: Meet with program participants for 30 minutes every other week to reflect on classroom observations.
- Guide Activity Development: Support participants in designing and implementing activities with children.
- Foster a Supportive Environment: Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to professional growth and exemplary practice.
- Collaborate with Peers: Participate in a monthly mentor teacher seminar/community of pracitce to share strategies and collaborate with other mentor teachers. Chose 1 month a year to co - faciliate
Knowledge/Experience/Skills Required:
- Minimum of two (2) years of employment with Wu Yee Childrens Services.
- Bachelors degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field or 30 units or more
- Currently serving as a Lead Teacher or in a higher position.
- Current Wu Yee employee
Compensation & Benefits:
- Position pays $1.79 - $1.88 on top of your pay.
