Associate Head Coach Varsity Girls Volleyball
Reports To: Head Volleyball Coach
Classification: Extra Duty
FLSA Status: Based on primary work assignment of employee

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of extra duty positions
Compensation: According to Policy and Regulation 4131
JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Head Coach Varsity Girls Volleyball assists in overseeing all aspects of the girls volleyball program including Varsity Junior Varsity Freshman and Middle School levels. The position supports the Head Coach in promoting skill development sportsmanship program organization and overall program success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Additional duties may be assigned.)
- Assist in overseeing the entire volleyball program including Varsity JV and Freshman and middle school teams (approximately 1113 players per team).
- Demonstrate and maintain a strong knowledge base of volleyball rules and skills.
- Participate in daily practices (MondayFriday) during the season for approximately 2½ hours; occasional weekend practices may be required.
- Ensure coaches have necessary equipment for practices and contests.
- Assist with setup and supervision for home matches.
- Help maintain equipment and facilities.
Support scheduling and supervision of a full competitive schedule (16 matches plus 3 tournaments including district competition). - Attend mandatory annual rules meetings.
- Attend coaching clinics for professional development.
- Attend tournament seeding meetings.
- Attend Suburban South/West coaches meetings (fall and spring) at Ladue High School.
- Attend all-conference selection meetings.
- Assist with yearly inventory of equipment and uniforms.
- Submit equipment recommendations to the Activities Director.
- Rate officials and submit required evaluations to the state association.
- Assist in evaluating lower-level coaches (Varsity Assistant JV Freshman).
- Assist with summer volleyball camp (grades 912).
- Support participation in Jeff-Co Summer League (six-week program one evening per week).
- Assist with youth volleyball programs for grades 58.
- Report scores and statistics to media outlets.
- Conduct interviews with local media as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in supervising student-athletes in grades 912 and support oversight of assistant and lower-level coaches as directed by the Head Coach.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students parents staff administrators officials and community members.
Ability to interact professionally and maintain positive working relationships.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers fractions decimals and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram and/or schedule form.
Ability to concentrate analyze situations problem-solve and apply sound judgment in carrying out essential job duties.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to supervise and motivate student-athletes.
Knowledge of MSHSAA rules and regulations.
Ability to maintain accurate records and complete required reports.
Commitment to promoting sportsmanship teamwork and student development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk talk hear and respond. The employee frequently uses repetitive wrist hand and finger movements; reaches with hands and arms; and demonstrates precise hand-eye coordination.
The employee may occasionally be required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision distance vision and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Occasionally the employee may lift up to 50 pounds (e.g. equipment supplies or materials). The employee may be required to exceed minimum physical demand specifications in situations involving student or staff safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
