Lead operations for a regulated derivatives exchange

A high-growth CFTC-regulated exchange is seeking a Market Operations Director to lead trading and clearing operations while mentoring a growing operations team.

About the Role

The Market Operations Director is a senior player-coach responsible for ensuring market integrity regulatory compliance and operational excellence. This leader serves as a subject matter expert in derivatives trading and clearing manages complex operational exceptions and acts as a primary liaison with regulators auditors institutional participants and executive leadership.

The role combines real-time operational oversight with strategic process design tooling enhancement and team development.

What Youll Do

Provide senior-level support to institutional trading participants and clearing partners
Oversee system integrity and maintain operational control of the live trading environment
Supervise daily settlement processes cash movements and reconciliations
Manage the full clearing lifecycle (positions margin collateral delivery)
Review and certify sensitive operational decisions
Diagnose latency and execution issues through log and packet analysis
Serve as subject matter expert on FIX Protocol and connectivity certification
Design and maintain automation scripts and tooling enhancements
Maintain and enhance technical documentation
Ensure compliance with CFTC operational requirements applicable to designated contract markets and derivatives clearing organizations
Mentor and develop Associates and Specialists
Partner with Technology Compliance Product Sales QA and Regulatory stakeholders

What Youll Bring

Bachelors degree in finance economics computer science mathematics information systems or related field (or equivalent experience)
8 years in derivatives exchange operations clearinghouse operations FCM operations or trading systems engineering
Deep understanding of electronic trading architecture and matching engine mechanics
Advanced knowledge of derivatives trading margining settlement and collateral management
Strong working knowledge of CFTC regulatory requirements
Fluency with FIX Protocol and FIX log interpretation
Experience with trade management and reconciliation systems
Python and/or SQL proficiency
Proven leadership and mentoring experience
Ability to operate in high-volume deadline-driven environments with on-call requirements
