Qualifying Questions:

Summary:
-
Interpret vehicle loads and environments.
-
Perform stress calculations and develop margins of safety using known allowables.
-
Conduct fracture assessments and support damage tolerance analysis.
-
Ensure observance of program standards to maintain structural integrity.
-
Build and analyze models using NASTRAN or similar FEM software.
-
Validate structural performance and support design decisions.
-
Develop detailed stress reports and test documentation.
-
Record and report certification and test results for regulatory compliance.
-
Substantiate requirements for customers and regulatory agencies.
-
Develop test plans and configurations.
-
Support execution of tests and analyze results to verify systems meet requirements.
-
Investigate product failures.
-
Recommend improvements and modifications for existing systems.
Requirements:
-
Ability to obatin Secret clearance (not required to start)
-
Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science Physics Mathematics or Chemistry.
-
Typically 5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of advanced degree work experience).
-
ABET accreditation preferred but not required.
-
Aerospace structural hardware experience.
-
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including NASTRAN.
-
Experience with launch vehicle structures.
-
Strong report-writing skills for structural analyses.
-
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Skills:

Fracture mechanics and damage tolerance analysis.
-
Significant launch vehicle structure experience.
-
Advanced understanding of vehicle loads stress calculations and allowable margins.
