ROLE

This role will provide the primary financial and grants management inputs into SCI Ukraine response and on-going support to develop best practice emergency financial and grants management procedures and processes.

The main aspects of the role are: Responding to Ukraine emergency as the finance & grants focal person working with other departments in country to ensure that there is a co-ordinated response in line with best practices.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare proposal budgets in line with donor guidelines while ensuring that non- thematic cost rate of the country is achieved.
  • Prepare budget realignments along with program staff for on-going awards if needed.
  • Represent the finance department in the BVA meetings while ensuring that actions are addressed after BVA meetings.
  • Providing support to the finance director and f financial planning & analysis manager in the preparation of the master budget 1st forecast and 2nd forecast processes.
  • Prepare periodic analysis on Funding GAPs for staff/ running costs and other management reporting to aid in SMT decision making.
  • Review the reclassifications proposed by program staff for eligibility in line with donor regulations and in line with SCI Financial policies.
  • Review of fund summaries along with budgets and creation/revision of coding string.
  • Prepare financial reports in line with donor regulations and ensure that deadlines are met as per reporting calendar in the funds summary.
  • Ensure sub-offices receive adequate support to operate efficient accounting systems including timely receipt of monthly budget variance analysis by budget holders timely answers to queries and scheduling tasks and deadlines.
  • Carry out inductions and staff trainings on finance procedures donor requirements etc.
  • Advice budget holders on financial aspects of awards management.
  • Capacity building of finance and non-finance staff on budgeting and financial reporting skills.
  • Analyse monthly spending against the KPI (Key Performance Indicators) 1 & 2 targets and work with budget holders to provide commentary on variances for consolidation and submission to the regional office.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Bachelors finance ACCA/ACMA Part qualified with 5 years of post-qualification accounting experience.
  • Proven track record of supporting a senior management team and providing strategic support across multiple sectors and/or regions
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the major emergency donors and experience in budgeting and reporting to donors.
  • Good attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Computer literate (i.e. WORD advanced Excel Outlook Internet Explorer financial systems).
  • Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people
  • Patient adaptable flexible able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
  • Excellent planning management and coordination skills with the ability to organise a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities
  • Strong communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills in English with experience in managing multicultural teams.

Desirable

  • Experience with any Save the Children financial systems and overseas accounting software (Agresso & Sun)
  • Significant experience with NGOs in an international emergency environment
  • Fluent in English.
