This is a newly created role built to centralize and strengthen costing oversight in a large-scale manufacturing environment. Costing responsibilities are currently distributed across leadership and operational teams. This hire will bring structure accountability and consistency to a core financial function.

The Role
The Manager Cost Accounting will:
- Conduct monthly product costing reviews
- Oversee escalation and de-escalation assessments
- Analyze order-level charges and credits
- Maintain the authorization for expenditure/shop order system
- Track and analyze cost variances
- Support month-end quarter-end and year-end close
- Review reconciliations and costing-related workpapers
- Support stakeholder-mandated audits including pension-related audits
- Review weekly payments and sales invoicing processes
- Provide financial support related to ownership asset tracking when required
- Participate in ad hoc financial analysis and special projects
This role works closely with the Controller and CFO and interacts cross-functionally with operations procurement and supply chain.
Ideal Profile
- CPA designation
- Minimum 2 years in a manufacturing environment
- Strong grounding in cost accounting principles
- Advanced Excel skills
- Comfortable working within legacy ERP systems (AS/400 environment)
- Strong internal communicator
- Detail-oriented and process-driven
- Comfortable in a stable long-term role without a rapid promotion track
- Able to operate independently without direct reports
Environment and amp; Structure
- Finance team of approximately 15 professionals
- Low senior-level turnover (many 7-8 years tenure)
- 5 days onsite in Hamilton
- Support available from broader finance team as needed
- Reports into senior finance leadership
Compensation
- Base salary: $120000 - $130000
- Discretionary bonus (historically variable)
