Job Summary

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Discovery Systems Manager provides leadership coordination and oversight for the management integration and continual optimization of Boise State Universitys Library Services Platform (LSP) and related systems. This role ensures that the Universitys open-source FOLIO environment operates as a robust secure and innovative foundation that supports teaching learning and research.

The LSP functions as a mission-critical enterprise-level system that integrates with campus authentication learning management finance and research infrastructures to provide seamless access to information resources across the university.

The incumbent uses automation and AI-enabled tools to increase system efficiency streamline workflows and improve discovery and data access. As the primary liaison between Albertsons Library the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and external partners this position ensures that library systems align with Boise States goals for innovation interoperability and data-driven decision-making.

Department Overview:

Albertsons Library is a welcoming and collaborative center for learning creativity and discovery at Boise State University. To meet the evolving needs of the campus the Library adapts its spaces services and systems to support students faculty staff and community members including strengthening the universitys growing research enterprise. We provide high-quality resources and support through in-person virtual and self-service options including access to databases journals books interlibrary loan technology lending a MakerLab and Special Collections and Archives. By offering flexible spaces for study collaboration exhibits and events we create an environment where people and ideas come together to spark insight and explore new possibilities.

Level Scope:

Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of area typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies processes and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies practices and procedures.

Essential Functions:
  • Seerve as Boise States primary administrator and institutional lead for the FOLIO Library Services Platform.
  • Coordinate with EBSCO implementation and hosting partners to ensure system reliability upgrades and data integrity across university systems.
  • Lead configuration management including authentication integrations with campus systems (e.g. PeopleSoft Canvas) and user role administration.
  • Implement and refine automated workflows and AI-assisted tools to enhance data processing system monitoring and analytics reporting.
  • Oversee data workflows for cataloging acquisitions circulation and analytics modules ensuring interoperability with other enterprise applications.
  • Collaborate with subject-area leads and technical staff on migration testing quality assurance and release validation.
  • Develop documentation training and internal communications supporting system use and enhancements.
  • Monitor emerging technologiesincluding AI automation and interoperability standardsand recommend innovations that advance Boise States digital infrastructure.
  • Serve as a liaison to the FOLIO Community and relevant campus and consortium technology groups.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience with integrated library systems (ILS) library services platforms (LSP) or enterprise resource management systems.
  • Knowledge enterprise system operations metadata standards and interoperability protocols (ex. APIs MARC Dublin Core Z39.50 NCIP etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud-hosted platforms (e.g. AWS) API integrations and authentication systems (SAML OpenID).
  • Understanding of automation and AI-enhanced tools for monitoring reporting and data analytics to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Skill in coordinating complex enterprise systems and ensuring alignment with institutional data governance and cybersecurity standards.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and project management abilities including applying data-informed and automated approaches to service improvement.
  • Ability to translate technical and AI-related concepts for various audiences and communicate effectively across academic and administrative units.
  • Commitment to open-source development interoperability and continuous innovation supporting enterprise efficiency and access to information.
MinimumQualifications:

Bachelors degree or equivalent and 5 years of related professional experience in fields such as Information Science Computer Science Library Science.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Science Computer Science Library and Information Science or related field.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience managing enterprise systems databases or software applications.
  • Experience coordinating system integration.
  • Experience cultivating and maintaining relationships with vendors and key stakeholders.
Salary and Benefits:
The annual salary range begins at $80828.80 and is commensurate with State University provides a best-in-classbenefits package including (but not limited to):
