POSITION TITLE: LIGHT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

DPW WATER DIVISION

AFSCME LOCAL 1700 GRADE 7

FULL-TIME (40 HOURS PER WEEK)

HIRING PAY RANGE: $46742.80 TO $50334.96 PER YEAR

FULL PAY RANGE: $46742.80 TO $62826.92 PER YEAR

POSITION OVERVIEW:

General laboring work requiring some skills such as pipe laying installing water services replacing valves and in emergencies installing water meters and reading water meters
Will be able to operate a compressor jack hammer water pump repair leaks dig trenches by hand tap water mains drive truck repair or replace street valves
Assist in repairing equipment and cleaning of the garage and stockroom
Be on call for emergencies and will do all work as assigned or required by the Superintendent
Answers directly to the Water the absence of the Water Superintendent will answer directly to the Foreman; in the absence of both the Water Superintendent and the Foreman will answer directly to the Lead Man

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Massachusetts Drivers License

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma trade school education or equivalent training and experience.
