California State Polytechnic University Pomona invites applications for one tenure-track faculty positions in the Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department. Cal Poly Pomona is one of three polytechnic universities in the 22-campus California State University system and among 12 such institutions nationwide. Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department:

The Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department strives to be a leader in polytechnic education where hands-on learning is the foundation of a broad-based educational experience. The success of our undergraduate programs results from the solid curriculum that incorporates theory and practice in a learning-centered environment. Students are provided with opportunities to apply their knowledge in hands-on projects collaborate with faculty members on projects and participate in valuable internships and service-learning programs.

The Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department in the College of Engineering at California State Polytechnic University Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin fall 2026. Candidates specializations in Mechanical/Electromechanical are especially welcomed to apply.

The Position: The faculty member will be required to be able to teach undergraduate classes in all areas of the Electromechanical Engineering Technology curriculum as needed. The primary areas of expertise desired include electromechanical systems or fluids and thermal systems. The position requires excellence in teaching and advising professional and scholarly achievements and a commitment to service to the university. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent teaching research projects written and oral communication skill. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in mechanical/electromechanical/electrical engineering or closely related field from an accredited university by August 1 2026

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Additional professional experience and teaching experience.
  • Preferable expertise: fluids and thermal systems with experience in computational fluid dynamics and engineering
  • Experience in semiconductor workforce development will be given additional preference
  • Ability to conduct applied research and develop industry contacts.
  • Commitment to the practical application of engineering principles.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching and develop and support Electromechanical Engineering Technology laboratories.
  • Demonstrated ability to be responsive to the educational equity goals of the university and its increasing ethnic and international character.
  • Demonstration of ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research teaching and/or service and of commitment to teaching and working in a multicultural environment.

While the emphasis is on the Electromechanical Systems Program also include courses from the Electronic Systems Program.

Finalists for the position will:

  • be required to provide official transcripts for the highest degree before the on-campus interview;
  • be required to provide three letters of reference dated within the last two years;
  • Final candidates being interviewed are expected to make a presentation of creative work and a teaching demonstration to faculty and interact with students.
