With over 130 years of experience navigating in some of the worlds most complex and difficult waters Seaspan Marine Transportation is the largest and most diverse tug & barge company on Canadas West Coast providing more than 2500 ship assist and escort services annually while our fleet of over 100 specialty and general-purpose barges provide critical transportation for many of BCs largest industries and major marine construction projects.
HaiSea Marine is a joint venture majority owned by the Haisla Nation in partnership with Seaspan ULC. The HaiSea Marine fleet is among the greenest tugboat fleets in the world and provides ship-assist and escort towing services to LNG carriers calling at the new export facility in Kitimat in the unceded traditional territory of the Haisla Nation.
The Intern HaiSea Marine will support HaiSea Marine from Seaspan Marines office in North Vancouver. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to the marine industry while working closely with our Maintenance and Engineering teams to enhance preventative maintenance processes improve lifecycle planning and strengthen equipment reliability across the fleet.
Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at 10 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.
What youll do
Work closely with the Maintenance and Engineering departments to expand the functionality of the preventative maintenance program
Support lifecycle maintenance and survey planning to improve cost control resource management and equipment reliability
Understand the capabilities of the current maintenance system and identify gaps
Collaborate with the maintenance and engineering team to implement system improvements
Integrate new information into the maintenance plan
Create updated guidelines for proper maintenance system use and functionality
Visit vessels and various maintenance and shipyard facilities to support operational requirements
What youll bring
Enrollment in a Mechanical Electrical Integration Industrial or related technical program
Experience or knowledge in the marine industry is an asset
Strong organizational skills and above-average computer proficiency
Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
Willingness to regularly visit vessels and operational areas within maintenance and shipyard facilities
Strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.
