Description of Work

SALARY RANGE: $39511.00 - $57438.00

Superior Court 24 Guilford County is seeking a qualified digital recording technician to record proceedings in court trials hearings and conferences capturing a verbatim record of court proceedings using digital/electronic audio recording systems.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Captures and maintains an accurate record of court proceedings in accordance with applicable stature court rules and policies.
  • Records monitors as assigned all court proceedings required to be recorded using audio/video recording equipment.
  • Accurately annotates proceedings with essential case information.
  • Performs playback of or read aloud from record of proceedings in courtrooms when requested.
  • Files record correctly in secure vault to ensure timely access.
  • Maintains file log sheets or database for all assigned recordings and assignments in a logical order.
  • Reproduces recordings by burning discs correctly labeling and ensuring functionality of each disc.
  • Accurately prepares and maintains logs for archiving and statistical reporting.
  • Prepares monthly activity statistics report in a timely manner and submit to AOC.
  • Subject to DRT assignment in other districts as necessary. Provides routine administrative support and tasks as assigned when court is not in session.
  • Complies with policies related to court proceedings and digital court recording functions.
  • Complete any other assigned administrative task as a member of the Guilford County court staff.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Knowledge of: fundamentals of court proceedings documents and rules English grammar punctuation and spelling; a personal computer and Microsoft Office products; court rules regulations procedures and operations; and legal and various specialized terminology.

Skills in: operating digital recording equipment; possess strong command of the English language; transcribes notes rapidly and accurately with proper grammar spelling punctuation and vocabulary to ensure detailed accuracy in daily logs and notes.

Ability to: monitor recordings; to sit for prolonged periods of time; maintain confidentiality of the court; and represent the court in a manner consistent with its decorum; maintain a professional demeanor at all times and establish effective working relationships with coworkers judges court personnel and the public.

Minimum Education and Experience

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma plus two (2) years of experience in an administrative/office environment and/or in operating audio recording equipment.
