Job Summary

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a driven Sr. Network Engineer to join our dynamic Network and Unified Communications Architecture team of network and UC engineers in Arlington VA.

Peraton currently provides several customers at the Pentagon with reliable secure voice video communications anytime anywhere in any environment in support of day-to-day operations. Peraton provides the O&M of the network infrastructure and its components as well as supporting the voice and video components of the overall system. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions and engineering support for the delivery of system network software and security solutions.

In this role the work is hands-on and you will support the creation and review of network designs conduct hardware evaluations in a lab and with vendors. We are seeking a proactive candidate who will not shy away from writing a test plan or reading through vendors technical documents to solve a problem and write a resolution report.

The ideal candidate shall possess a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification or higher. Have experience with Cicso Expressways and specific hands-on technical experience with Cisco collaboration tools Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)/ Cisco CallManager (CM) and Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) and Meeting Server/ VQ is highly desirable.

The Network Engineer is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Evaluate LAN/WAN performance and capacities to identify problem areas or bottlenecks.
  • Perform a variety of network management services related to the operation performance or availability of data communications networks.
  • Responsibility for overall performance and availabilityof networks
  • Provide LAN/WAN support with skillin network analysis integration and tuning.
  • Analyze client LANs/WANs isolate source of problemsrecommends reconfiguration and implementation of new network hardware toincrease performance.
  • Work with customers and operations staff in scheduling preventive and emergency maintenance to include resolution of customer tickets.
  • Support on-call duty on a as needed basis in response to network outages
  • Implement networking technologies and concepts (such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols).
  • Management of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones call managers and gateways.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance is required.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering (or similar technical field) and eight (8) years relevant experience; or a Masters degree and six (6) years of relevant experience; or a PhD and three (3) years of relevant experience; or a High School Diploma/GED and twelve (12) years of relevant experience in the above-cited duties may be substituted in lieu of a completed higher education degree.
  • Must possess a CCNACertification or a CCNPCertification.
  • Experience and understanding with Cisco devices VLANs VPNs LAN/WAN technologies and/or routing & switching.
  • Experience in the following areas:
    • Network troubleshooting
    • Routers/switches
    • Cisco IOS
    • Cisco Call Manager & unity or other OSCP DNS QoS VPN
    • Cisco Expressway E and C
  • Operational experience with local and wide area network infrastructures (including routers firewalls switches servers and related hardware).
  • Previous experience supporting a government and/or Department of Defense customer.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A current/valid IAT LVL II Certification (Security Nertwork )
  • Experience withCiscoUnified Communications Manager (formerlyCiscoCallManager now known asCiscoUnified CM orCUCM) andCiscoMeeting Server (CMS) platforms is highly desired.
  • Experience and understanding of CCNA layer 2 and 3 network configurations to include OSPF EIGRP BGP VLANS and IPSEC enabled GRE tunnels as well as basic CallManger phone provisioning tasks.
  • Ability to generate documentation that describes standard operating procedures which will be used by help desk personnel.
  • Proficient in network monitoring/management systems familiarity.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong investigative drive and listening skills self-motivated individuals.
  • The ability to work under pressure and be flexible with their time.
  • Ability to prioritize and document tasks is a plus.

Target Salary Range

$112000 - $179000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position the individuals experience education knowledge skills and competencies as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position employees may be eligible for overtime shift differential and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
