Summary: This position is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in the On-Premise Channel. Direct a sales team and provide leadership to achieve maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Contributes to the development of training and educational programs for sales team members and customers. Maintain and grow business with select assigned key high profile wine accounts. Position will be located in Louisville or northern Kentucky. Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage sales activities of assigned team.
- Works with sales team to ensure growth of gross profit total portfolio new points of distribution and volume growth in territory.
- Maintain customer records on decision maker(s) timing of decision-making process and if the account is influenceable.
- Responsible for the performance and development of sales team.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key account management decision makers and ownership.
- Work with operations team to ensure all accounts are being serviced with-in the companys service frequency standards. Adjust when necessary and ensure all companies systems are kept up to date with service frequencies for both sale and delivery schedules.
- Attend key special events.
- Must spend at least 60% of the time in the trade with sales team and calling on assigned accounts.
- Responsible for providing feedback and coaching of the sales team in accordance with the structured sales call process.
- Initiates and coordinates action plans and sales programs with key accounts in territory to ensure program execution.
- Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
- Conducts weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports to enhance communication understand customer needs and to provide insight for the improvement of sales and activity performance.
- Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.
- Maintains accurate records of all sales time off and performance issues.
- Work with management to conduct routing reviews as needed and analyze cost efficiency time to sell and recommend and changes to Sales Management.
- Communicate sales issues/concerns with appropriate sales department managers and operations managers.
- Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
- Adheres to all company policies procedures and business ethics and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
- Ensures that all Sales team members meet or exceed all standards for sales calls.
- Sets example for Sales team in areas of personal character commitment organizational and selling skills and work habits.
- Conducts regular coaching and counseling with Sales team to build motivation and selling skills.
- Identify market and consumer trends within assigned sales territory and develop action plans to support.
- Driving is an essential function of this position.
Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: - Min. 3 years of B2B sales experience within the industry.
- WSET Level 2 or comparable certification in wine strongly preferred
- 2 years of sales management experience preferred.
- College degree preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate effective computer skills (Excel Work Outlook Power Point etc).
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
- Experience coaching mentoring supervising direct reports
- Ability to organize and communicate work efficiently to set priorities to give and follow orders and to motivate others.
- Willingness to work occasional evening and weekend events.
- Proven leadership and ability to drive sales teams.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements of position including repetitive lifting moving products up to 45lbs.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Solicitors License with the Kentucky ABC.
- Must have a valid Drivers License in good standing with a driving record acceptable to Company insurance carrier.
