This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.


Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located in 1915 Health Services Way - Wake County with the Department of Health and Human Services.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $36.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Management Preferences:

The primary purpose of the FNS Training Specialist is to strengthen the capacity of the states training system to develop implement and deliver training for the County Social Services (DSS) agency staff in Food and Nutrition Services as well as E&T SNAP Ed and Outreach. This is a statewide position and requires one to be capable of the development and delivering training professionally across the state in a variety of modes.

Competencies Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Proven educational experience.
Making effective informational and motivational presentations to diverse adult learner audiences.
Design develop implement promote and evaluate professional development programs and activities that are responsive to broad levels of professional need and diverse audiences.
Collect and evaluate data related to professional development.
Manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines.
Work independently and with minimal supervision
Effectively utilize computer equipment and software applications used to support the development and delivery of classroom and on-line training courses and materials.

Minimum Education and Experience

Masters degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience; or Bachelors degree in a discipline relative to the program area from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
