Position Summary:

Responsible for coordinating the credentialing process for multiple assigned clinical areas in accordance with

Medical Staff Administration procedures. HCGH Medical Staff Bylaws and guidelines of Howard County General Hospital its affiliated entities and The Joint Commission (TJC). Supports re-accreditation by TJC health insurance agencies and state and federal licensing bodies through internal and external auditing practices to show conformity to compliance standards and regulations. Applies accreditation standards to files to ensure patient safety through identification investigation and review of inconsistencies omissions and/or errors of information identified in the credentialing process. Minimizes processing time to quickly appoint clinical staff to the hospital for optimal revenue generation and to provide the highest quality service to patients clinical departments and Howard County General Hospital.

Shift: Full Time Day shift (40 hours) 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelors degree in fields such as healthcare business English or communications; experience in healthcare settings is a plus

Required Licensure: CPMSM CPCS or CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) preferred. Certification etc.

Work Experience: A minimum of one years experience with hospital-based credentialing medical office settings or in progressively more responsible positions in complex business/administrative office settings including interacting with professionals such as physicians teachers faculty nurses etc. is preferred

COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of medical staff services principles methods and procedures as well as administrative office management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of credentialing policies and procedures
  • Training program requirements as established by the Hospital and School of Medicine.
  • Accreditation and regulatory requirements relating to the medical staff with a focus on credentialing. Understanding of the Hospitals credentialing policies and procedures as they relate to professional liability coverage.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills and ability to manage demanding workload; self-motivated; able to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently handling situations that require independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage specialized electronic database run reports and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated excellent command of English - spoken written and read.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse groups of people within the Health System and with outside agencies.
  • Possesses the analytical skills necessary to obtain correct information provided on physician and allied health applications.
  • Ability to focus on tasks regardless of distractions. Requires the ability to pay meticulous attention to detail and to respond to requests for information.
  • Adheres to professional confidentiality standards in accordance with legal ethical and departmental policies.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential situations/information with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills including those required for customer service.

Salary Range: Minimum 20.52/hour - Maximum 33.52/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
