Job Summary

Seattle Childrens has multiple summer internship openings across a variety of non-clinical departments. Internships will be offered in a hybrid format and will run for up to 14 weeks beginning in June. Interns will work up to 40 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for students to engage in an inclusive hands-on learning environment grow their skills and gain exposure to a diverse range of career areas at Seattle Childrens. As part of this experience interns will learn to work collaboratively as part of a team take on substantive projects under the guidance of experienced mentors cultivate professional networks with peers and leaders and participate in a range of career development activities. At the conclusion of the internship all students will prepare a final project for presentation at a formal convening attended by Seattle Childrens staff and leaders.

Job Summary

This position is temporary and/or intermittent in nature. Length of service exceeds 100 hours. This will be a hybrid work experience requiring an in-person presence approximately 1-3 days per week. This position is initially set for a14-weekduration with the possibility of extending into early 2027.

The People Strategy team is part of Seattle Childrens People and Culture Division whose mission is to champion a healthy culture promote resilience and build compassionate and inclusive spaces to create exceptional experiences for our patients families and workforce. People Strategy is comprised of project managers from a variety of backgrounds and industries and supports projects that include traditional HR patient and family experience advancing health outcomes technical implementations and more. Along with project management we bring strategic thinking thought partnership collaboration and creative thinking in all our initiatives.

People Strategy seeks an intern to assist across various project areas to (1) improve internal operations and project coordination (2) gain a foundational understanding of Seattle Childrens mission and commitments under the strategic plan; (3) contribute ideas and feedback related to emerging trends and practices within healthcare and project management; and (4) develop technical skills including HR project management process improvement facilitation and data analysis.

An ideal candidate brings dedication creativity and a genuine interest in supporting people-focused initiatives. This role will provide meaningful exposure and skill development for those interested in exploring a potential career in program/project management and within the context of a large healthcare organization.

Additional Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide project management support including process improvement and data tracking and analysis on various project areas related to People Strategy goals and People and Culture Division priorities.

  • Engage in People Strategy projects as they align to interns interests and current portfolio. Project examples can include streamlining the organizations talent architecture development and implementation of org-wide policies and rollout of HR technologies.

  • Participate in shadowing and mentorship opportunities with People Strategy team members.

  • Support daily operations and development of key deliverables such as core project management tools and standard work infrastructure.

  • Prepare a final project for presentation at the end of the internship period.

  • With manager support develop internship learning goals and establish regular check-ins to discuss progress and identify learning opportunities.

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Recent graduate from a local college or technical school

  • Prior coursework or experience in project management human resources or organizational development

  • Strong desire to participate in mission-driven work that fosters equitable outcomes and reduces disparities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)

Compensation

$23.00 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity skills experience and expertise and may vary within the range provided.
