Duties And Responsibilities
Teach a full-time course load (typically 4 courses per semester) at the undergraduate and graduate levels covering foundational and advanced sports management topics. Ensure curriculum is continually updated to reflect current trends technologies ethical challenges and operational realities of the global sports landscape. Design and integrate coursework case studies and discussions focused on ethical decision-making social responsibility and integrity in sports management. This includes addressing current issues like player safety governance scandals equity and inclusion gambling and the impact of technology on fair competition. Provide career mentorship grounded in practical knowledge of the sports management profession. Advise students on course selection academic plans and career paths leveraging professional experience to guide those interested in graduate school or sports management careers. Participate in departmental college or university service duties as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
A masters degree (e.g. MBA MS in Sports Management or related field) is required. A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive senior-level leadership and operational experience within the sports industry or related field is required. Proven expertise in multiple facets of sports business such as Sports Marketing/Sponsorship and Brand Management Revenue Generation/Sales Athletics Administration Event/Venue Management and Operations Sports Media Analytics or Esports Management. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for lecturing facilitating case-based discussions and providing constructive feedback on student work.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience at the university level (including adjunct or corporate training) is highly beneficial. An active and extensive professional network within the sports industry to facilitate experiential learning. National or regional recognition as a thought leader or innovator within the sports industry. Experience in developing and managing industry partnerships or creating large-scale experiential learning opportunities. A terminal degree (e.g. Ph.D. Ed.D.) is valued but not required as professional credentials are the priority.
