Job Summary

PRIMARY PURPOSE:Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned route. Operate school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from school or other designated : Education/Certification:Valid Arkansas commercial drivers license (Class B) with Passenger Air Brake and S endorsements Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to pass alcohol and drug testMust be able to pass a criminal history check and DPS physicalMust have acceptable driving recordAbility to complete required bus driver safety trainingAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to communicate effectivelyKnowledge of student discipline procedureAbility to manage student behaviorAbility to operate bus The Board may find appropriate and acceptable alternatives to the above RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Maintain professional behavior appearance and work ethic to represent the school district positively at all timesArticulate a positive image of the school district and school district effective customer service strategies to all district the assigned route and adhere to established bus to and from extracurricular the bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify the supervisor of necessary bus and complete Pre-Trip form before any bus all accidents vehicle damage student injuries and mechanical failures; complete required records of bus mileage gas and oil consumption and the number of passengers assigned bus fueled and clean (interior and exterior) students while they board and leave the bus and cross the with the transportation office daily regarding student behavior while on the discipline; report student discipline problems to the appropriate students on safe riding rules and seating appropriately to aid in maintaining proper all traffic laws and safety regulations for school proper condition of emergency equipment such as first aid kit fire extinguisher flags fuses crowbar and unsafe conditions in the work area that could cause an accident and inform the supervisor of any conditions that are not correctable any hazardous conditions along the route to the transportation two-way radio equipment and cell phone to communicate with the transportation a positive role model for students that supports the school climate and mission of the school communicate with colleagues students and behavior that is professional ethical and and complete required training programs (on all in-service days) to maintain safety certification safety including first aid/CPR safety evacuations as duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT USED:School bus safety equipment (flares reflective signs) fire extinguisher seatbelts wheelchair lift WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands:Maintain emotional control under stress Physical Demands:Continual sitting reaching and repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperature and vehicle fumes
