Connectivity Field Superintendent - Data Center Infrastructure Projects
Location: Albuquerque New Mexico (On-Site)
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
Per Diem: Paid 7 days per week
Position Overview
The Connectivity Field Superintendent is responsible for leading and coordinating all connectivity low-voltage and related infrastructure work on large technically complex data center construction projects. This role oversees field execution from planning through close-out ensuring quality installations safe work practices schedule adherence and strong coordination across trade partners and project stakeholders.
This position is well-suited for a hands-on field leader with deep experience in telecommunications and data center connectivity including ISP and OSP scope. The ideal candidate is self-directed organized and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments while holding crews to high standards of workmanship documentation and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop and manage project schedules including four-week look-ahead plans and pull-planning activities.
- Create and implement site logistics plans to support daily operations and long-term project execution.
- Review and interpret construction documents drawings wiring diagrams and technical specifications; identify and resolve constructability issues.
- Ensure materials equipment inspections and manpower are aligned with the project schedule and scope requirements.
Field Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise and coordinate trade partners subcontractors cabling crews and vendors onsite.
- Lead telecom contractors through installation termination labeling testing and dressing of copper and fiber systems.
- Maintain accountability for field performance including quality productivity housekeeping and adherence to project standards.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Track work progress task readiness installation quality and inspection compliance.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams on quality walks punch lists and corrective actions.
- Enforce high-quality workmanship aligned with industry best practices and customer requirements.
- Support project close-out activities including testing results as-built drawings redlines and turnover documentation.
Safety Leadership
- Establish and maintain a strong safety culture onsite.
- Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Conduct safety walks identify hazards and address issues proactively.
Technical Oversight
- Oversee installation and commissioning of structured cabling and network infrastructure within data center environments.
- Perform or supervise copper and fiber termination testing troubleshooting and splicing.
- Coordinate layout and build-out of MDF/IDF rooms racks pathways and related infrastructure.
- Ensure cabling is installed dressed and labeled per project and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate field documentation reporting and lessons-learned records.
Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate clearly with clients inspectors trade partners and internal project leadership regarding progress constraints and needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to remove obstacles and maintain schedule alignment.
- Provide technical input as needed for project planning discussions and execution reviews.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in low-voltage or MEP construction including controls or integration systems.
- 2 years of field supervisory or lead-level experience.
- Strong understanding of ISP and OSP connectivity in data center environments.
- Proficiency reading construction drawings wiring diagrams and MEP/low-voltage plans.
- Hands-on knowledge of copper and fiber cabling systems pathways testing troubleshooting and termination standards.
- Experience with scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Valid drivers license.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
