The Koch lab is seeking a postdoctoral scientist with expertise in population genetics and a motivated interest in human genetics. Our lab develops novel methods theory and analysis paradigms. We are interested in linking selectional and mutational landscapes to patterns of genetic variation associated with human traits and diseases. We do this by integrating evolutionary models with GWAS biobank and functional genomic resources across populations to uncover broadly useful frameworks for interpreting genetic findings in human health.
Appropriate candidates will possess foundational knowledge in population genetics as well as strong quantitative and computational skills. The postdoc will lead projects where they develop and apply new methods for the analysis of human genomic data. Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
The Koch lab is located in the Yale School of Medicine which offers an outstanding training environment for postdoctoral scientists with state-of-the-art research facilities and vast resources to support professional development.
Responsibilities
Mentoring & Professional Development
We have a strong emphasis on mentorship and value the opportunity to train future leaders in human genetics. The PI will work with the successful candidate to develop and implement a mentorship plan tailor-made for their goals and interests. Mentorship will be provided for fellowship applications manuscript writing presentations and independence.
The successful candidate will gain access to a range of career development opportunities at Yale. This includes seminars from internationally renowned researchers and Meet the Speaker lunches and professional development and networking activities including via the Yale Postdoctoral Association and Yale Office for Career Strategy.
Candidates should have or be close to obtaining a PhD in either genetics/genomics evolutionary biology computational biology or a related field.
