Job Summary
A healthcare facility in Long Island City New York is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for a contract assignment. This role provides specialized around-the-clock care to critically ill infants children and adolescents with life-threatening conditions while delivering compassionate family-centered care in a high-acuity environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
Continuously monitor vital signs and patient status identifying and responding to changes promptly
Administer complex medications and manage IV therapies safely and accurately
Operate and manage ventilators and other advanced life-support equipment
Perform detailed physical assessments and document patient responses to treatment
Collaborate closely with pediatric intensivists and interdisciplinary care teams
Respond rapidly and effectively to emergency situations and code events
Support and educate families providing clear communication and emotional support
Maintain compliance with hospital policies safety standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (New York or compact as applicable)
Prior PICU nursing experience required
Strong clinical assessment critical thinking and emergency response skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-acuity pediatric environment
