The Project Reality
Youll join the Toyota Europe website development specifically focusing on car configurator modules that millions of users interact with when building their ideal Toyota. Working alongside our Belgium campus colleagues youll be part of one of several iO teams delivering solutions within Toyotas enterprise technical environment alongside multiple partners.
Our experience with automotive clients shows that car configurators demand both technical precision and performance optimizationthese arent simple product catalogs but complex applications handling real-time pricing availability and customization logic across European markets.
What Youll Actually Do
Your daily work centers on JavaScript/TypeScript development using React and Redux Toolkit within Toyotas established technical stack. Youll build and optimize NodeJS/Express solutions following Backend for Frontend principles ensuring smooth data flow between configurator interfaces and Toyotas backend systems.
The role involves working with modern development concepts that actually matter in production: state management patterns server-side rendering static site generation and immutability principles. Youll configure and optimize bundling tools like Webpack and Vite because performance directly impacts user experience in automotive e-commerce.
Youll work within our CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions monitor application health through DataDog or NewRelic and implement automated testing with Playwright. Recently weve integrated GitHub Copilot for enhanced development productivitysomething that proves valuable in complex enterprise codebases.

Job requirements
Strong JavaScript/TypeScript and React development experience gained through actual projects
Working knowledge of Redux Toolkit and state management in production applications
NodeJS/Express experience with Backend for Frontend implementation
Experience with multiple frameworks proves more valuable than deep knowledge of just one
Understanding of SSR/SSG immutability and functional vs object-oriented programming approaches
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines preferably GitHub Actions
Familiarity with monitoring tools (DataDog NewRelic) and automated testing frameworks
Experience configuring and optimizing bundling tools (Webpack Vite)
Fluent English for daily collaboration with international colleagues and client teams
