The Pima County Wireless Integrated Network (PCWIN) is one of the largest regional public safety communications cooperatives in the State of Arizona. Over seventy public safety and public service agencies from all levels of local county state and federal jurisdictions use PCWIN for critical public safety communications. The PCWIN radio system is operated and maintained by the PCWIN Department which is comprised of infrastructure and subscriber teams and administrative staff. These teams work cohesively to maintain the day-to-day operations of the system and subscriber radios. As a Land Mobile Radio Systems Analyst I you will be part of the PCWIN Subscriber this position you will maintain troubleshoot and program subscriber radios including annual RF calibrations and firmware updates. The PCWIN subscriber team utilizes PC applications such as Motorola CPS MotionDeck and MS Office along with various RF test equipment such as RF analyzers watt meters multimeters battery testers etc. to troubleshoot radio subscriber issues.
Essential Functions:

Configures deploys maintains and troubleshoots public safety radio systems software management platforms and supporting infrastructure to ensure continuous system reliability;
Supports daily operations monitoring and performance of the PCWIN Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system using network management and diagnostic tools;
Troubleshoots and resolves complex radio software and hardware issues escalating advanced root-cause problems to senior LMR Systems Analyst staff as needed;
Installs configures programs and repairs mobile and portable radios in public safety vehicles and facilities including police fire and emergency medical units;
Configures and maintains custom servers radio programming environments and diagnostic software used for radio management and troubleshooting;
Provides technical support and guidance to users by answering inquiries interpreting technical documentation and conducting Motorola Radio Service Software (MRSS) diagnostics;
Manages and maintains radio system databases including SQL-based records asset data and coordination with vendors on upgrades and configurations;
Maintains accurate work orders asset records inventory and workflow documentation using ticket management and related asset management systems;
Coordinates communications projects by identifying equipment requirements installation locations construction needs and monitoring changes costs and payments;
Acts as a liaison with county departments external agencies vendors and contractors to coordinate communications system operations and improvements;
Develops updates and maintains technical documentation procedures manuals and training materials and provides user training on radio hardware and software.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree from an accredited college university or technical trade school with a major in computer science computer engineering management information systems (MIS) or a closely related field as determined by the appointing authority at the time of recruitment AND one year of working in a radio shop that supports a medium to large enterprise radio communications system.
(Relevant work experience and/or education from an accredited college or university or technical school may be substituted.)
OR:
Four years of experience working in a radio shop that supports medium to large enterprise radio communications systems.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Licenses and Certificates:Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record. Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at time of application or prior to completion of an initial or promotional probation period. Failure to obtain/maintain the required certification/licensures shall be grounds for termination. All positions require an Electronic Technicians Association General Communications Technician Level 1 (ETA GCT 1) certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 24 months of appointment. Some positions may be required to successfully complete an industry-recognized tower climbing safety and rescue course.

Physical/Sensory Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Some positions require lifting equipment climbing working on towers elevated or below-grade platforms. All positions require the ability to identify industry-standard color-coding of electrical wiring and components. Additional physical and sensory abilities will be determined by the position.
