A Linux System Administrator is responsible for installing configuring and maintaining Linux-based systems and servers to ensure they operate smoothly securely and efficiently. Key duties include managing user accounts performing backups monitoring system performance applying patches and updates and troubleshooting issues. This role requires a strong understanding of Linux command-line tools and often involves scripting to automate tasks and collaborate with other IT teams to maintain a stable IT environment
Install configure and monitor the Linux server management and operating system
Troubleshoot glitches and resolve bugs and other technical issues in the Linux operating systems
Perform Linux system management by monitoring system performance and security continually
Maintain system documentation by ensuring that everything is diligently logged and recorded periodically
Create execute and maintain scripts that aid in system automation as a Linux administrator
Ensure that the system is up-to-date and provide technical support to the users to efficiently and effectively make use of the Linux operating system
Having a minimum of 5 years of Experience in Managing Physical and Virtual Servers in a large environment typically 300 Servers.
- b. Should be expert in Server Hardware and OS troubleshooting with ability to resolve issues in the lowest possible time.
- c. Experience in handling Servers across multiple OS flavors (opensource).
- d. Ability to handle escalations and manage environment single handedly whenever required.
- f. Provide RCA for Technical issues.
- g. Experience in tracking server activity performing upgrades of software addressing technical problems.
- h. Working experience of HyperV and Vmware technologies.
- Ability to face various audits.
- j. Ability to prepare Technical SOPs and bring in improvements.
- k. Good Documentation Skills preferred.
- l. Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
- m. Knowledge of ITIL Preferred.
