Position Title: Japan I&C Engineer (Installation & Commissioning Engineer)Location: Japan (nationwide travel required)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Installation & Commissioning (I&C) Engineer to support our Food & Beverage endmarket projects across this role you will take responsibility for the installation commissioning and site management of process equipment providing expertise throughout both the bid and execution phases.
You will collaborate closely with Engineering Automation Project Management and suppliers to ensure safe efficient and highquality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess project costs related to I&C deliverables including:
- Skidded units and preassembled elements at suppliers workshops
- Site setup handling lifting
- Mechanical installation work (electrical installation handled by Automation team)
- Site management and process commissioning
- Estimate task duration and create I&C plans for project schedules
- Prepare tender documentation for SPX FLOW suppliers
- Analyze supplier bids and monitor quality cost and progress
- Support aftermarket activities when required
- Work across internal teams to ensure aligned project execution
Travel Requirements
This role involves significant domestic travel within Japan.
- Busy season: 25 days of travel per month
(Days off provided at the site during long stays) - Offpeak season: 10 days of travel per month
- Typical trip length: Mostly within one week (23 days)
but some longterm construction projects may last 14 months - Frequent travel areas: Nationwide except Okinawa
(Especially Kanagawa Shizuoka Aichi Yamanashi Ibaraki Saitama Osaka and Hokkaido)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years in a similar I&C role or 4 years in mechanical installation supervision and/or site management
- Experience in food processing chemical or pharmaceutical plants is a plus
- Familiarity with equipment installation standards and best practices
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical Industrial or Construction Engineering
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs and layout drawings
- English and Japanese (written & spoken) are mandatory
- Must be able to engage in businesslevel communication in Japanese and be eligible to work in Japan
- Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic knowledge of SAP and MS Word Excel and Project
- Technical Supervisor Qualification Certificate under Japans Construction Industry Law is preferred
