As Physical Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistant heres a big-picture view of what youll do:
- Provide school-based physical therapy to patients who have lost mobility strength and functionality due to an illness or injury
- Work as part of a school Medical team which may include an RN Teachers and Counselors focused on the students plan of care and goals
- Observe movements conduct assessments document progress and modify care plan as needed
- Assist student with exercises and hands-on therapy to manage pain and increase mobility
- Educate students on their plan of care established goals exercises and self-care
- Coach family on the plan of care therapy goals and safely assisting with exercises
A few must-haves for School Physical Therapists and Assistants:
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist/Assistant Program and active PT/PTA license in Missouri
- Minimum of 2 years of physical therapy experience
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations
- Good clinical judgement strong interpersonal skills dexterity and compassion
