ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to a Senior Project Manager is responsible for maintaining updating and operating York Region water and wastewater hydraulic models and developing programs to update these models to support the current and future needs of Public Works Environmental Services Department; supporting the preparation of the capital works program and the implementation of capital projects; providing support to Operations Capital Delivery and other groups and managing water and wastewater modelling related projects.
WHAT YOULL BE DOING
- Develops programs to maintain update and calibrate the Regions water and wastewater hydraulic models.
- Identifies areas of hydraulic model enhancement and develop plans to implement the enhancements.
- Carry out hydraulic analysisto carry out analysis to support capital work projects and operations related functions and to carry out analysis to identify system capacity constraints and improve system security.
- Participatein the preparation of the 10-year capital works plan including capital project schedules and project needsreports.
- Prepares terms of reference for modelling related projects; manages projects including expenditures quality control and schedules.
- Liaises with local municipalities regional municipalities developers and consultants on water and wastewater modelling assignments.
- Plans and conducts focus groups workshops as required to promote and support modelling initiatives and functions.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a University Degree in Civil Engineering or Applied Science.
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer () with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Minimum five (5) years experience (inclusive of EIT experience) in municipal engineering with significant experience in hydraulic modelling of watersystems.
- Strong working knowledge of G.I.S. applications.
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater hydraulic computer modelling.
- Strong knowledge of the design and operation of water distribution and wastewater collection systems pumping stations and storage facilities.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations guidelines procedures and legislation including MOE Water and Wastewater design guidelines.
