The Department of Energy serves the social environmental and economic interests of Nova Scotians by ensuring that energy resources are developed and used in an efficient and sustainable manner. The Department delivers programs and activities related to electricity renewable energy energy efficiency geoscience petroleum and industry development.
The Clean Energy Branch provides leadership and direction to help transition the electricity building and transportation sectors to clean energy and efficient energy use. The Branch focuses on policies and programs that help achieve the Provinces clean energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals while maximizing benefits to Nova Scotians by promoting local energy production system reliability and equity.
As the Manager Strategic and Community Projects you will have the opportunity to help develop key priorities and strategic projects to support clean energy project activity in communities across Nova Scotia. This includes energy efficiency electrification and transportation initiatives in all stages of development and implementation.
Supporting the Provinces efforts to improve energy affordability create jobs and grow the clean economy of Nova Scotia you will work collaboratively with senior staff on policy analysis and program development and implementation to meet our overarching goals.
Some of the primary accountabilities of this role include:
To be considered for this opportunity you have a bachelors degree in a related field (such as science engineering community development or business and administration) and considerablerelated experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
As the successful candidate you will demonstrate strong knowledge of the provincial energy policy context and the Provinces clean energy and climate change mitigation strategies and funding programs.
A background in environmental science community development business planning or other related field and experience in the clean energy sector low carbon buildings electricity and/or transportation systems - and experience designing and delivering funding programs is required.
You have excellent communication (verbal and written) interpersonal presentation and negotiation skills. You can work independently and engage effectively with senior decision makers. Experience managing staff and leading senior level project and program teams is considered an asset.
You are detail oriented and able to simultaneously manage multiple initiatives (including budget reporting and timelines) and are curious creative and interested in generating new ideas concepts and initiatives.
Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Decisiveness Strategic Orientation Developing Others Team Leadership Self-Awareness and Personal Impact Effective Interactive Communication Partnering and Relationship Building and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

his is a term federally funded position based in Halifax Nova Scotia with a projected end date of Feb 28 2031
Pay Grade: EC 12
Salary Range: $3760.89- $4701.11Bi-Weekly
The salary rates include an economic adjustment that has been approved. These rates are effective April 1 2025. Implementation in our HR system will occur on March 5 2026. Until then the current rates will apply. Employees hired during this period will receive retroactive pay adjustments in accordance with the applicable policies.
