Position Summary
The Unit Manager is responsible for the overall operation financial performance and leadership of Theo & Bettys a quickâservice deli and retail concept located in a secure airport environment. This role has full accountability for staffing guest satisfaction operational execution financial results and compliance with company standards and all airport safety and security requirements.
This is a working management position. The Unit Manager is expected to spend approximately 8590% of each workday actively working in the unit performing operational and service functions alongside the team while providing handsâon leadership oversight and support.
The Unit Manager leads by example maintains a visible presence on the floor and partners closely with supervisors associates and leadership to ensure a safe efficient and profitable operation in a fastâpaced highâvolume airport setting.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit hire onboard train schedule and develop supervisors and associates.
- Provide ongoing performance coaching feedback and corrective action as needed.
- Foster a culture of accountability professionalism teamwork and guest service excellence.
- Ensure consistent enforcement of company policies procedures and standards.
- Partner with Human Resources on employee relations matters documentation investigations and compliance.
Guest Experience
- Ensure exceptional guest service standards are consistently met or exceeded.
- Address and resolve guest concerns escalated from supervisors.
- Monitor service execution and adjust staffing and positioning as needed to support peak travel times.
- Maintain a welcoming clean and organized service and retail environment at all times.
Operations & Food Service Execution
- Oversee daily food beverage barista and retail operations.
- Actively participate in daily operations as a working manager for the majority of each shift.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety sanitation and health regulations.
- Maintain brand standards for product quality preparation presentation and portion control.
- Ensure proper use cleanliness and maintenance of all equipment and facilities.
- Effectively manage operational challenges inherent to an airport location.
Financial & Business Management
- Full P&L responsibility including revenue labor food cost and controllables.
- Develop and manage schedules to align labor with fluctuating business volume and budget targets.
- Oversee cash handling controls deposits audits and lossâprevention practices.
- Monitor inventory levels conduct counts investigate variances and implement corrective action plans.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement strategies to improve profitability and efficiency.
- Grow business revenues through planned local marketing initiatives and additional revenue opportunities as presented.
Compliance Safety & Airport Requirements
- Ensure compliance with all airport TSA Snohomish County credentialing and security regulations.
- Maintain readiness for inspections audits and credentialing requirements.
- Ensure all employees understand and follow airport access protocols and security standards.
- Promote a safe working environment and immediately address safety hazards or concerns.
Qualifications
- Minimum 35 years of General Manager or senior management experience in food service coffee retail or hospitality.
- Demonstrated experience managing financial performance and budgets.
- Strong leadership communication and problemâsolving skills.
- Ability to manage in a fastâpaced highâvolume highly regulated environment.
- Proven ability to lead by example hold leaders accountable and drive results.
- Proficiency with POS systems scheduling tools and inventory management.
- Experience planning and fostering revenue growth strongly preferred.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
- Open schedule with flexible availability including early mornings weekends holidays and emergency coverage.
- Ability to read write and understand English.
Airport Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Paine Field Airport Security Badge issued through Snohomish County.
- Must successfully pass all TSAârequired background checks and fingerprinting.
- Must comply with all airport TSA Snohomish County and security regulations at all times.
Work Environment
This position operates within a secure airport environment and requires frequent interaction with travelers airport personnel vendors and internal teams.
