This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
As the Product Manager for CaML backed by proven technical leadership experience you will advocate for a team dedicated to distributing content that speaks to all Canadians. You will act as a bridge between complex technical systems and strategic audience experiences ensuring CBCs digital platforms remain at the forefront of personalization.
You are or wish to be a user-obsessed data driven Product Manager. You possess a high level of comfort working on technical products a proven work methodology and established leadership experience. You balance solid technical acumen with deep empathy with your end users. You will champion CBCs vision for audience-focused AI aligning all work with our core pillars: Governance of Use AI Literacy and Accelerating Innovation.

Strategic Leadership: You will manage the systems powering CBCs personalization customization machine learning and GenAI initiatives. This includes owning the product roadmap and ensuring alignment with the broader digital strategy.
Recommendation Systems: You will take a lead role in managing recommendation engine systems using them to inform strategic decisions across digital platforms like CBC Gem (OTT) and CBC Listen.
Evangelism: You will be an evangelist for the build measure and learn cycle frequently organizing and presenting the teams findings and successes.
Scaling Content: You will work with one of the largest audience behavioral data sets in Canada enabling the integration of ML products across a vast breadth of content.
Technical Expertise & Applied Skills
Technical Foundation: Youre likely to have a bachelors degree in Computer Science Analytics or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the following:
Data & ML Proficiency: You possess a deep understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts ML Ops practices and Recommendation Systems enabling you to effectively partner with engineers data scientists and stakeholders.
GenAI Literacy: You are able to explore evaluate and integrate diverse GenAI approaches such as large language models (LLMs) semantic search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) using open-source commercial multi-modal tools. You will lead hands-on AI experimentation (prototyping and assessing feasibility/business value) while ensuring responsible and ethical deployment. As the key liaison you will translate complex AI capabilities into practical clear insights for editorial teams to uphold journalism standards.
Delivery in a Data-driven Environment: You have worked with data systems at scale and have practical experience leading or supporting the delivery of data and ML products across their lifecycle from architecture design model development to deployment into production including systems involving APIs experimentation A/B testing analytics and user-facing applications. .
Tools and Platforms: You are very familiar with tools such as Python and GCP and you have experience managing backlogs using the Atlassian suite (Jira Confluence Bitbucket).
Statistical Knowledge: You are familiar with core statistical concepts ranging from regression methods to more advanced models allowing you to interpret experiments evaluate model performance and make informed product decisions.
Leadership & Process
The Zoom Out and In Ability: You can contribute to high-level team OKRs and roadmaps while simultaneously managing daily unplanned occurrences and technical tradeoffs.
Agile/Lean Mastery: You are a firm believer in Agile and Lean methodologies with experience in test-driven development and iterative growth.
Consensus Builder: You excel at writing clear agendas and facilitating meetings or workshops that drive toward consensus and actionable decisions.
Inclusive Vision: You have a strong desire to reflect a diverse contemporary Canada through your approach to work and the products you build.
Accessibility & Availability: You are comfortable working with remote teams based across Canada. You will be available to travel at least once a month to join your local/regional counterparts for scheduled team events.
