Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSSrelated work Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada by Canadians.

The Intern Human Resources & Employee Relations will provide project and day-to-day operational support for the HR Business Partnering team. This role will report into the Director Human Resources Consulting Services and gain exposure to multiple areas within a Human Resources group.

Note: Due to business needs this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue North Vancouver.

What youll do

  • Provides support in functional areas of Human Resources Employee Relations and Wellness which may include coordination of tasks operations under supervision and optimizing current practices.
  • Actively supports Seaspans internship program.
  • Assists in the collection of internal and external information for reports and statistical research a key element being the onboarding process and set up.
  • Preparing and editing correspondence reports and presentations.
  • Processes paperwork for functional area according to established procedures.
  • Work directly with key personnel to understand project concept objectives and approach.
  • Support and deliver a variety of HR tasks and projects.
  • May suggest and assist with the implementation of process improvements and standard methodologies in order to achieve departmental efficiencies and improve service.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

What youll bring

  • Enrollment in a Human Resources Employee Relations Business Administration or equivalent undergraduate degree program.
  • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience preferred.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess tact diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task prioritize and problem solve.
  • Sound knowledge of federal and provincial employment legislation.
  • Good judgment and reasoning skills.
  • HRIS knowledge an asset (Taleo JD Edwards Oracle).
  • Attention to detail with good analytical skills.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $26.00/hour.

Start Date of Internship: Monday May 4th 2026.

End Date of Internship: Friday December 18th 2026 (8-Months).
