Description of Work
SALARY RANGE: $48243.00 - $62114.00Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Schedule cases and resolve scheduling conflicts and prepare Juvenile Court calendars as directed.
Support permanency planning mediator by documenting the discussions agreements and recommendations developed during sessions.
Provide case management of A/N/D and delinquency cases and prepare periodic reports from the integrated case management system.
Present reports to diverse audiences (e.g. court leadership organizations practitioners and public) through collaborative meetings conferences facilitated workgroups and publications.
Foster communication and act as a liaison between Family Court Juvenile Court judges attorneys system partners such as Mecklenburg County Youth and Family Services Guardian ad Litem law enforcement and local diversion and community service programs.
Support Model Court efforts committees and annual conference.
May support programs related to fostering reunification and kinship placements of children in care engagement efforts permanency planning mediation restorative justice mediation/facilitation etc. as directed.
This position reports to the Family Court Administrator. Works hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Alternate work arrangements including remote work are available.
Knowledge of: various administrative systems and policies of Family Court and Juvenile Court court administration and case management in the legal environment; state and local child welfare and juvenile justice practices and current legislation on juvenile and abuse neglect and dependency issues; relevant systems institutions and partners in juvenile abuse neglect and dependency and juvenile justice systems; family dynamics trauma-informed practices substance abuse disorders and treatment child and adolescent behavioral issues and response; unified family court concepts; and application of self-care and stress management practices.
Skills in:computer software and computer applications such as Word PowerPoint Excel and integrated case management systems such as Enterprise Justice/Odyssey; strong organizational skills with attention to detail; and strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to: prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines; organize and prioritize work; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; work with culturally and/or economically diverse court users; interpret regulations guidelines and statutes; initiate and coordinate activities meetings and projects; and offer an empathic response while recognizing and respecting appropriate boundaries.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in a human services field such as psychology social work sociology counseling or criminal justice and one (1) year of experience in a human services field or the court system; or an associates degree in a human services field plus three (3) years of equivalent experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Management prefers applicants with a Masters degree from an accredited college or university in social work child development criminal justice psychology sociology or related field; or a Bachelors degree in social work child development criminal justice psychology sociology or related field and at least four (4) years of experience working within Family Court or Juvenile Court as a case manager court counselor or coordinator of related services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Management also prefers a candidate who has experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with judges attorneys volunteers and stakeholders.
