Job Summary
St. Joseph Catholic Church Manchester is seeking a faith-filled energetic and highly organized individual to serve as Assistant Director for Summer Camp. This position supports the Summer Camp Director in planning coordinating and leading a dynamic summer camp program that provides children with a safe engaging and spiritually enriching experience. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with parish/school leadership camp staff and volunteers to ensure daily operations run smoothly and that the program reflects the mission and values of Catholic education while fostering fun growth and community.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in the design planning and implementation of a fun faith-based and age-appropriate summer camp program rooted in Catholic values
Support daily camp operations including scheduling activity coordination and supervision of campers
Help recruit train supervise and support camp staff aides and volunteers modeling positive and respectful leadership
Serve as a point of contact for parents and staff communicating clearly and professionally as needed
Assist with monitoring camper behavior and ensuring consistent enforcement of safety guidelines and behavior expectations
Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents under the direction of the Camp Director following established procedures and reporting requirements
Help coordinate camp logistics such as schedules field trips supplies and materials
Foster a welcoming inclusive and faith-centered environment consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church
Step into leadership responsibilities as needed in the absence of the Camp Director
Job Requirements
Practicing Catholic preferred and committed to the values of Catholic education
Prior experience in education camp programs childcare or youth ministry preferred
Strong communication organization and teamwork skills
Ability to work collaboratively with the Camp Director and support a team-oriented environment
Demonstrated flexibility problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-energy settings
Must be at least 21 years of age
CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
Must complete and maintain compliance with the Archdiocese of St. Louis Safe Environment Program including Protecting Gods Children training and background screening
