The Inventory Specialist oversees the ordering storing receiving and distributing processes of an organizations products and supplies. Their main duties include controlling the flow of supplies and equipment tracking and analyzing inventory maintenance and developing protocols for loss mitigation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Help develop and maintain an organizational system for inventory and materials housed in the plant
Forecast demand trends and analyze historical data to determine appropriate inventory levels
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and products
Monitor inventory levels and identify potential shortages or excesses
Locate and transfer materials between production areas
Responsible for receiving materials into inventory software once a truck is unloaded
Puts materials away in dedicated locations
Ensuring first-in first-out method is used when monitoring inventory/materials
Performs audits visual inspections cycle counts as needed
Operates forklifts pallet jacks and other machinery to move items as needed
Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory data
Perform other duties as assigned

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
1 - 3 years of previous material management or inventory specialist experience
Safely operate a forklift pallet jack and any other lift equipment required for the job
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Physical Requirements
Walk and stand for extended periods of time
Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing pulling reaching lifting squatting kneeling and bending
Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
Requires fine motor hand and arm movement manual dexterity and coordination
Requires near visual acuity
Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances
Work Environmental Factors
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials. A production employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
