National Presbyterian School a 300-student elementary school (Pre-K 3 through 6th Grade) located in Washington DC is conducting a search for a Director of Teaching and Learning to join the NPS community and administrative team starting July 1 2026.
The Director of Teaching and Learning is responsible for oversight of the curriculum and instructional practices at NPS ensuring that both are rooted in the NPS mission philosophy and Core Values. The Director of Teaching and Learning manages curricular content and programmatic initiatives assessments and standardized testing faculty committees professional development and the schools accreditation addition the Director of Teaching and Learning plays a key role in communicating the NPS curriculum and programming to a wide range of school constituents. The Director of Teaching and Learning reports to the Head of School and works closely with the Directors of the Lower (Pre-K 3 - 2nd Grade) and Upper (3rd - 6th Grade) Divisions and all members of the senior administrative team.
In candidates NPS is looking for the following qualifications:
- Possesses at least a bachelors degree in a relevant discipline with a masters degree preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of teaching as a preprimary/elementary educator
- Thorough knowledge of the developmental needs of 3-12 year olds
- Administrative/leadership experience ideally in designing and implementing curriculum or similar experience
- Strong knowledge of current educational pedagogical and curricular ideas and research
- Excellent listener and communicator with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate with colleagues and serve as a visible and engaged presence in the school community
- Talented and dedicated problem-solver leader and manager adept at strategic thinking attention to detail and coordinating and leading projects and events
