Orthopedic Hand Surgeon
Position Summary
The Orthopedic Hand Surgeon provides comprehensive evaluation surgical and non-surgical treatment of conditions affecting the hand wrist and upper extremity. This role includes management of traumatic injuries degenerative conditions congenital abnormalities and work-related or repetitive-use disorders. The surgeon works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient-centered orthopedic care.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat disorders of the hand wrist and upper extremity
- Perform elective and emergent surgical procedures within the scope of hand surgery
- Manage traumatic injuries including fractures tendon nerve and soft tissue injuries
- Provide non-operative care such as injections splinting and rehabilitation planning
- Interpret diagnostic imaging and test results
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Participate in call coverage for hand and upper-extremity trauma as required
- Collaborate with therapists advanced practice providers and referring physicians
- Educate patients and families regarding conditions treatment options and recovery
- Maintain accurate timely and compliant medical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement patient safety and clinical education activities
Practice Setting
- Hospital and outpatient clinic settings
- Elective and urgent surgical care environments
- May include trauma or emergency department consult coverage
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
- Fellowship training in Hand Surgery (orthopedic or plastic surgerybased)
- Board certified or board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
- DEA registration or eligibility
