Description of Work

The Network Operations Center Supervisor performs advanced technical and analytical work to ensure the seamless operation of the North Carolina State Highway Patrols critical communication infrastructure. This role provides direct day-to-day supervision for eight Operations Technicians within the Network Operations Center and oversees contractors engaged in VIPER infrastructure and maintenance. The Supervisor is responsible for the integrity of large-scale networks including the Voice Interoperability Plan for Emergency Responders (VIPER) CJIN/DCI OFM and the NCSHP Internal Network. Moving beyond first-level support this position conducts high-level troubleshooting network design and security analysis to support the Continuity of Operations for statewide emergency services.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Considerable knowledge of telecommunications network concepts protocols transport systems and communications hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of telecommunications network software and hardware and the full range of network system requirements.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of network operational problem determination procedures and techniques.

Position/Physical Requirements:

  • Typical work schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm/ On- Call as Needed

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution
OR
Associate degree in computer science or a related technical field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of networking
related experience
OR
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of networking related experience

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
