Job Description Summary
Teach Job Preparedness Skills courses that focus on helping students acquire the skills necessary to attain long-term economically sustainable employment and overall self-sufficiency. Course content will center on participant assessment personal development and understanding the importance of soft skills and job readiness.
Duties
Teach employability skills that can including but are not limited to basic computer skills resume writing job search interviewing skills money management self assessment and career exploration. Develop present and follow a course outline with goals and objectives. Submit all course materials for review and approval. Keep accurate student roster attendance sheet and other required records. Establish trust and a good rapport with students of diverse backgrounds including those who face barriers to employment and/or are unemployed/underemployed. Provide confidentiality in all aspects of services provided.
Minimum Requirements
1. Ability to teach off campus. 2. Knowledge of subject matter to include any of the following but not limited to conducting job search filling out applications writing resumes/cover letters interviewing skills basic computer skills up to Microsoft Office skills experience in recruitment hiring and application screening; 3. Ability to work with diverse populations especially unemployed and underemployed individuals; 4. Approachable and able to build trusting relationships with students; 5. Experience working in an environment with sensitive issues of poverty and diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Previous experience teaching adults; 2. Knowledge of local job market and the skills needed to be successful; 3. Experience in job counseling economically and educationally disadvantaged adults; 4. Comfortable teaching in prison facilities.
