The Human Resource and Benefits Coordinator serves as the essential link between LSSU employees and their employment benefits. This role provides high-level administrative support for the full employee lifecycleincluding onboarding benefits education and leave managementensuring compliance with state and federal laws and various Negotiated . Primary ResponsibilitiesBenefits AdministrationVEHI Management: Act as the primary point of contact for the Vermont Education Health Initiative (VEHI). Manage enrollment changes and terminations for health dental and life insurance Oversight: Administer Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) including coordinating with third-party administrators (e.g. HealthEquity).Open Enrollment: Lead the annual open enrollment process providing educational and informational & Absence ManagementFMLA/VPFLA: Administer Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Vermont Parental and Family Leave Act (VPFLA) requests tracking eligibility medical certifications and Compensation: Manage claims via VSBIT; coordinate with injured employees and supervisors to facilitate a safe and timely return to Tracking: Audit and reconcile leave balances (sick personal vacation) within the districts absence management software (e.g. Frontline).Recruitment & OnboardingNew Hires: Coordinate the onboarding process including background checks/ fingerprinting I-9 verification and benefits Support: Assist licensed staff in ensuring they have the proper endorsements on file at the Vermont Agency of Education for the courses they are assigned to teach. Contract Administration: Ensure new hires are placed correctly on salary scales according to the relevant Master Agreement (Teachers vs. Support Staff).Retirement & ComplianceAgreement Compliance: Interpret and apply the terms of Negotiated Agreements to ensure benefits and pay practices remain in : Assist in the preparation of data for ACA (1095-C) reporting and annual audits as . QualificationsEducation: Associates or Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field : 3 years of experience in HR or benefits administration.
